Egg Harbor Township man charged in 2016 overdose death

A man arrested at an Atlantic City motel Tuesday morning is charged with strict liability drug-induced death for the overdose death of an Egg Harbor Township man last year. Jamal Campos, 26, is also charged with being the leader of a narcotics trafficking network, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner announced Tuesday night. Campos was arrested after multiple agencies searched the 80 rooms of the Bayview Inn & Suites, which was heavility damaged during Hurricane Sandy. An investigation into the April 22, 2016, death of Adam O’Gara led to Campos. He is additionally charged with heroin distribution and possession with intent to distribute 100 wax folds of heroin. Cash, drugs and airsoft guns were recovered in the search, along with seven dogs. An eighth dog was fatally shot by an Atlantic City police officer after the dog made an aggressive move toward officers attempting to enter the room, Tyner said. Thirty-three men, women and children living in the property were removed. Police also found a 3-foot alligator in the pool. It was removed by animal control, and taken to the Cape May County Zoo.

Also arrested on unrelated warrants were: Tariq Heard, 27; Chinaisy Rodriguez, 25; Gazelle Williams, 40, and Ba’shawn Whitted, 25, all of Atlantic City; Ravil Magianov, 59, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Jonathon Frith, 25, whose hometown was not provided. The investigation was a cooperative effort that include county, state and municipal entities.
